a spiritual athlete often strives:
to skillfully, wisely and lovingly control their thoughts, feelings and actions in the next few moments (the only thing that one can control)
to resonate well with the vibrations in other living and nonliving things (listen well, tune in well, connect well)
to harmonize well with the Cosmic Symphony (to add creative, interesting and salutogenic vibrations, pitches and rhythms . . . and minimize discordency)
to dance well with the Cosmic Dance (with grace, balance, strength, gentleness, wisdom, and creative choreography)
to frequently choose to practice gratefulness, joy, kindness, acceptance and peace . . . in the midst of a complicated, ineffable, unknowable, ever-evolving Universe where many things are happening (for trillions of reasons) that, at first glance, seem unfortunate, unjust, disappointing and wrong.
to make a difference
to beautify the Cosmic Dance
strategies, plays and tips for the spiritual athlete to do this well:
associate closely with teammates who are also often striving to do 'things' well (including thoughts, feelings and actions, such as love, acceptance, kindness and gratefulness)
love a partner well (care about and care for them well) by frequently choosing to speak their love languages and frequently choosing to practice acceptance, kindness, affection for them.
love many things well, which is another way of saying optimize relationship wellness with many other people, animals, plants & living systems
choose to practice techniques to quiet muddled, frenetic, monkey-mind thinking which tends to cloud my vision, filter my hearing, separate me from others, and make me self-centered & ego-centric (e.g. mindfulness (of thoughts, sensations, breathing), yoga, tai chi (and frequently practicing mindfulness of my body's balance, grace and softness). playing music, playing my gong, hugs & walks with Linda, massage of Freddie and Ampy, practicing moments of silence between paragraphs in the book of life (or putting punctuation marks between sentences in the frenetic, run-on sentence that dominates my verbal thinking), etc.
choose to practice gratefulness for Divine Grace--the ineffable, unknowable, miraculous forces which propel and coordinate the unfolding Universe
frequently appreciate, and practice awe for, the natural beauty and the creative artistry of 'Mother Nature and God'
frequently practice humility
frequently laugh, or at least chuckle (especially about the foibles, shortcomings, weaknesses of myself and others)
frequently choose to relax tension and to lighten up, and thereby beautify this place in the Universe that I am responsible for (the space here and the time now which is currently me)
